The course was prepared by people with hands-on experience of mission in the UK. It aims to enable leaders and potential leaders to re-think ministry and church, so that mission is at the centre of all that is done, and is effective in our 21st century context.
“Leadership is one of the key issues facing the church in the 21st Century, so training leadership has to be a high priority in Parish life. This course is a must!”
The Rt Revd Mike Hill, Bishop of Bristol.
There is a validated and a non-validated option available. The validated option, an MA in Missional Leadership, is validated and awarded by the University of Wales. It is delivered and assessed using supported distance learning in tutor groups, through Birmingham Christian College. An MA or Masters degree can be achieved on completion of six modules, and a supervised dissertation, within the time limit of five years. It is possible to stop short of the full Masters degree, and achieve a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma. For more information on this validated option go to www.wales.ac.uk or email validation@wales.ac.uk
To be admitted students will need a Bachelors degree, or be able to demonstrate substantial relevant experience.
Students who take up the non-validated option,
have the flexibility to study topics according to interests and
time. Together in Mission will provide a certificate to confirm
attendance at tutorials.
Whether students opt for the validated or the non-validated option, they will be supported in their learning with us. In addition to self-study materials and cds there are a number of regional support groups across the UK, where topics and essays are discussed with subject tutors and other students. Click here for details on these.
But this learning is experienced most powerfully at Summer School, four days of study, discussion and debate with mission focused people from across the country. We run a masterclass alongside summer school, (Alan Hirsch in July 2008), so this event becomes a significant gathering of leaders seeking to understand together, how God is shaping us for mission in our changing contexts.
“Utterly transforming. This course has been the most spiritual thing I’ve done all year. Don’t miss the opportunity to come- and do bring your entire leadership team so that together you can immediately implement what you’ve learned.”
Rev Chris Bull, Area Dean & Student
“The course has enabled me to pick up on my long lost passion for mission. ”
Mrs Eniwaju Etomi, Church Planter & Student
But please note- the Missional Leadership course, whether validated or not validated, does not entitle students to receive a local authority grant or act as a basis for visa applications to enter the UK.
